To our Caposhie community,
I have started writing this letter more times than I can count,
and I’m still not entirely sure there are words that will do it justice.
After more than a decade of building Caposhie, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close our doors at the end of October.
Even typing that sentence doesn’t quite feel real.
For those of you who have been with us from the beginning, you know that Caposhie has never just been a clothing store. It has been the people we have worked beside, the customers who became friends, the communities that welcomed us, and thousands and thousands of little moments that somehow turned into more than a decade.
This year changed everything for us.
At the beginning of the year, we unexpectedly lost my longtime business partner, Howard. Howard believed in me and in what we were building long before there was much evidence that he should. Together, we grew Caposhie from an idea into something bigger than I ever imagined, at one point, 11 stores and an incredible team of people across Western Canada.
And as heartbreaking as this all is, there is an enormous amount of gratitude.
Because what a chapter it has been.
If you ever walked into one of our stores, ordered something online, told a friend about us, followed along on social media, came to one of our events, supported us through COVID, shopped local when there were a million easier options, or simply cheered us on from afar, thank you.
You allowed us to build something that mattered.
You allowed us to employ hundreds of incredible people over the years. You let us open stores in communities we loved. You trusted our team to dress you for first dates, new jobs, vacations, weddings, birthdays and ordinary Tuesdays.
Those are the things we will remember.
And then there is our team.
There are honestly no words big enough for what I feel for the people who have built Caposhie alongside me. Some have been here for a season and some for years, but every single person has left something behind. They cared about this company, our customers and one another in a way that I don't think you can manufacture.
They made Caposhie what it was.
I am so incredibly proud of what we built together.
This isn't exactly how I imagined this story ending. I don't think you ever build something believing that one day you'll have to say goodbye to it.
But I have also learned this year that sometimes life changes the plan for you.
For the next little while, our doors are still open. We hope you'll come visit us, say hello to our teams, share a memory and help us celebrate this strange, beautiful, messy, wonderful thing we built together.
There will be time for the sales and the logistics and all of the practical pieces that come with closing a business.
But today, I really just wanted to say thank you.
Thank you for believing in us.
Thank you for growing with us.
Thank you for giving a little Canadian company a chance.
And most of all, thank you for letting Caposhie be a small part of your lives.
With all my love and gratitude,
Adelle
Co-Founder, Caposhie
A FEW IMPORTANT DETAILS AS WE SAY GOODBYE
We know many of you have gift cards, Caposhie Points, store credits and recent purchases, and we want to give everyone as much time and notice as possible to use them.
GIFT CARDS
If you have a Caposhie gift card, we strongly encourage you to use it before our stores and website close at the end of October. Gift cards can be used both in store and online while we remain open.
CAPOSHIE POINTS & REWARDS
If you've been saving your Caposhie Points, now is the time to use them! All outstanding Caposhie Points and loyalty rewards can be redeemed on eligible purchases through October 31, 2026. After Caposhie closes, our loyalty program will also come to an end and points will no longer be available for redemption.
STORE CREDITS
Any outstanding Caposhie store credits should also be used before October 31, 2026. If you have a store credit and aren't sure of the balance, please reach out to us or visit one of our stores and our team will be happy to help.
RETURNS & EXCHANGES
As we begin our closing sale, our regular return policy will eventually change. We will clearly communicate when purchases become final sale before you purchase, both in our stores and online. Any purchases marked Final Sale cannot be returned or exchanged.
ONLINE ORDERS
Our website will remain open during our closing period while inventory lasts. We will continue processing and shipping orders as usual, and we'll communicate our final online shopping and shipping dates as we get closer to the end of October.
Most importantly, if you have something outstanding with us, please don't wait until the last few days. Come see us, use what you have, and let us take care of you while we're still here.
